Madison Bumgarner punctuated one of the finest World Series performances in baseball history by pitching the Giants to their third title in five years with a 3-2 win over the Royals in Game 7 on Wednesday night, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Royals battered the Giants 10-0 Tuesday night to tie the Series at three games apiece, and force a Game 7 on Wednesday evening.

Pitching with the initials of late Cardinals' outfielder Oscar Taveras on his cap, 23-year-old rookie Yordano Ventura allowed three hits over seven innings for his first Series win.

Madison Bumgarner has put the Giants just one win from yet another championship, throwing a four-hitter to beat the Royals 5-0 Sunday night for a 3-2 World Series edge, according to an ESPN.com report.

The Giants surged past the Royals 11-4 on Satruday night to tie the World Series at two games apiece.

Down by three runs in the early going and in danger of dropping into a huge hole, the Giants and their fans rallied.

The fired-up Hunter Pence got three hits, drove in three runs, scored twice and made a terrific catch in the ninth inning.

The winning formula of fundamental baseball has put the Royals ahead in the World Series.

Jeremy Guthrie out-pitched fellow World Series newcomer Tim Hudson, and four Royals relievers combined on four hitless innings, and Kansas City beat the San Francisco Giants 3-2 Friday night for a 2-1 series lead.

The Kansas City Royals scored five runs in the sixth inning on Wednesday night to win Game 2 and even the World Series against the San Francisco Giants.

The game was highlighted by a shouting match between Salvador Perez and Hunter Strickland in that sixth inning which led both clubs to leave their dugouts.

"We showed them that we have fight in us, and I think they knew that already," Billy Butler said. "But we stepped up big there as a team, and that gave us some confidence."

Jeremy Guthrie will be on the mound Friday night for the Royals, who had won eight straight playoff games before a 7-1 loss in the opener. Tim Hudson will start for San Francisco.

Kolten Wong hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth inning and the resilient Cardinals beat the Giants 5-4 Sunday night, evening the NLCS at one game apiece.

"We just knew we had to keep grinding," Wong said. "When you lose someone like Yadi, it's definitely tough for us, but we told ourselves we've been going through this all year. Grinding up and down, not getting any easy pass, so we're all so confident."

Alcides Escobar doubled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning, Mike Moustakas extended his home run-binge and the Royals remained perfect in the playoffs, beating the Orioles 6-4 Saturday for a 2-0 lead in the ALCS, according to an ESPN.com report.
